Iron deficiency (anemia) is characterized by a decrease in hemoglobin production. Cells don’t receive enough oxygen, and this causes permanent fatigue.
The desire to eat something strange (most often ice, sometimes dirt or starch);
Constantly cold hands or feet;
Discomfort in the chest, shortness of breath;
Pale skin, brittle layered nails;
A painful, swollen, or sore tongue.
In the initial stages, you can fix the situation by increasing the amount of iron-rich foods in your diet. Champions for iron content are clams, meat, variety meats, and pulses (see other products here).
Vitamin B12 deficiency
Fatigue is one of the first signs of a vitamin B12 deficiency. This element is found only in products of animal origin, so vegetarians are the first to be at risk.
Bad mood, tearfulness, anxiety;
Blurred vision, the appearance of unusual shadows;
Pale or yellowish skin, smooth tongue;
Numbness, tingling, burning in the limbs.
With a lack of vitamin B12, changes in nutrition can help only if you have really refused meat for some period of time (for example, you kept to a diet). In all other cases, you should take a synthetic analog, the correct dose of which will be prescribed by a doctor.
An underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) is characterized by a lack of thyroid hormones and is accompanied by fatigue.
Swollen face and eyelids, swelling of the legs (less often);
Increased sensitivity to cold;
Pain, discomfort in the muscles and joints;
Dry skin, thin hair, or hair loss.
This condition can be fixed by the intake of synthetic hormones.
With bowel dysfunction, the amount of harmful bacteria in it is greatly increased. When these microorganisms die, they secrete a toxin that negatively affects the nervous system, causing fatigue.
Excessive gas, abdominal pain;
An unpleasant aftertaste in the mouth;
White coating on the tongue;
The treatment depends on which disease (it can be dysbacteriosis, irritable bowel syndrome) has violated the intestine’s normal functionality.
Adrenal fatigue is an overabundance of adrenaline in the blood. This hormone is produced in stressful situations and is beneficial in small doses, but its overabundance makes you feel shattered.
Low blood pressure;
Inexplicable weight loss;
Hair loss, skin darkening.
Adrenaline bursts cannot be excluded from real life. Yet there are things that help you cope with stressful situations better: sound sleep, a balanced diet, walking outdoors, sports.
The most common liver diseases accompanied by fatigue are hepatitis A and B. Fatigue can also be a sign of a violated outflow of bile, inflammation of the bile ducts, or liver cirrhosis.
Pain under the ribs on the right side;
Nausea, poor appetite.
In this case, special drugs (and in some cases even surgery) are obligatory.
Chronic dehydration isn’t as evident as acute dehydration, so we often ignore it. The constant shortage of water entails many problems, including permanent fatigue.
A constant desire to eat something sweet;
Difficulties falling asleep, superficial sleep;
Dry mouth, unpleasant odor.
To test your body for dehydration, pinch the skin on the outer side of your wrist with two fingers, pull it half a centimeter, and then release. The skin should completely smooth and return to its original state in 1-2 seconds.
You can get rid of chronic dehydration by increasing the amount of consumed liquid (from 1.5 to 2.5 liters (50 to 67 fl.oz), depending on your weight).
